The company was founded in 1989 by Dieter Hilgenberg as an engineering company in Olfen, North Rhine-Westphalia. In the following years, a continuous build-up of complete manufacturing was realized with electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic divisions. The company of today engages in manufacturing in seven production halls with
additional high-bay storage facilities. Currently, approximately 70 experienced employees comprise the regular workforce of the company. The most modern CAD technology is used in engineering and construction. Our company possesses the DIN 18800-7 full certificate of welding suitability and is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001: 2000. Since 2004, the company has been the authorized service support base and sales partner of Svendborg Brakes for the German mining industry.
Shaft hoisting technology
Shaft and inclined hoisting systems transport all sorts of raw materials extracted in underground to surface. Their performance and reliability determines the operating efficiency of any mine. For many years, OLKO- Maschinentechnik GmbH has successfully supplied complete systems and components to this market. Shaft hoisting systems are designed and built according to varying principles. Using a drum winder, the hoisting rope is coiled up on the rope carrier in one or multiple layers. With the Koepe system, the hoisting rope is driven from the rope carrier by friction (friction drum).
Building material technology
In the German hard coal mining industry construction materials with the most diverse compositions are required for various applications. The largest proportion of the materials is required for the construction of roadside packs and for the backfilling of roadways because of the ever increasing depths and the resulting rock mechanical problems. Over the last 30 years handling, transport and processing systems have been developed to cope with these quantities of materials and to avoid further loads on the shaft hoisting installation. Nowadays these systems are standardized and are characterized by mobility, flexibility, small space requirement and the latest control engineering. This applies in particular to pneumatic and hydraulic transport and distribution of the construction materials. In future all mines will monitor and control all installations above and below ground from a central control room. The methods developed in the mining industry are also successfully used in tunnel and underground railway construction. For more than 25 years in German coal mining, furnace-dried building material has been hoisted to consumers underground by various means of transportation devices. For approximately 10 years, "Big Bag" hoisting
and pneumatic hoisting over larger distances has been increasingly used, even in tunnel construction. The advantages are reduced space requirement, flexibility, rectification of transport, processing, storage of concrete and automation.
Steel construction
Steel structures according to external designs are a part of our product portfolio. For the mining industry, extensive repairs and modifications to hoisting frames were conducted, ensuring a long-term continuing operation of the shaft hoisting systems. The works were designed in such a manner that, during the rebuilding, a continued operation of the systems could take place. Among other things, mobile dust extraction ducts for the filling of bunkers of a blast furnace operation, along with stationary extraction ducts for coking systems, were supplied for
the steel-producing industry.
System construction
OLKO implements complete turn-key solutions in the areas of shaft hoisting technology as well as building material technology. This comprises the entire support of our customers from consultation regarding planning, manufacturing, assembly, installation, start-up and to hand-over, training, maintenance along with support in
operation.Technical qualification, flexibility and innovative ideas distinguish our employees and form the basis for understanding the complex setting of tasks of our customers and implementing intelligent solutions.
